The vineyards where grapes are grown are now part of the “Las Cabreras” estate, and those are sent to the “Bodega Galán Viviani & Cía” to make the wine. It is located in the Toledo town of Hormigos, in the valley of the Alberche River, bordering on the north side with the Sierra de Gredos.
- Soil
The estate has 30 hectares, in which 20 of them are dedicated to grow various grains within the organic farming framework, and the other 10 to cultivate vines. The main varieties are Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The soil is of the clear sandy type in its most superficial side, but after 35 cm under, it is rich in limestone. These features, as well as its relatively low fertility, provide and exceptional soil to grow grapevines.
- Climate
The climate is continental with an annual precipitation of 450 mm. Although rains are scarce during the vegetative period, the vineyards have advanced trickle irrigation techniques that have been installed in the estate. These advanced techniques, combined with the thermal amplitude towards the end of the maturation period, allow for an optimal grape quality that is reflected in the wines produced.
Respect for nature has been a constant factor in Bodega Galán Viviani & Cía. The use of traditional agricultural methods and the use of principles of organic growing combine to provide a background of sustainable agriculture.
